The ORP needs volunteers interested in contributing directly to Penn State research by representing the community as non-affiliated committee members.

The Penn State Office for Research Protections (ORP) seeks the help of community members in our mission to ensure the welfare of people and animals involved in Penn State research. Volunteers should have upstanding moral character, good communication skills, and be comfortable speaking to others in an online meeting setting. Potential volunteers will be screened and selected by committee leaders. Moderate compensation provided.

3 Committees:

Institutional Review Board

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

Institutional Biosafety Committee

Requirements:

• Monthly meetings during business hours, 2-3 hrs/mo. min.

•  Expectation to actively participate, maintain confidentiality

•  No scientific background or experience needed

•  Basic computer skills, computer access, and high-speed internet

•  Training provided

•  Must not be affiliated with Penn State (i.e., employees, students, or those with immediate family members affiliated with Penn State)
