“Last year, our 42nd annual Alternative Christmas Fair in 2024 crossed the one-million-dollar mark, and we have raised over $1,000,000 for charities since our inception in 1982!  The 2025 Fair will be better than ever, with three new charities (Sister's Sister, State College Community Land Trust, and Think We Not Me), for a grand total of 32 charities! 

Our 43rd Fair will take place in person on Sunday December 7 from 10:30 AM to 2 PM, and we are open for online donations from November 30 through December 21.”

As usual, approximately 30 local, national, and international charities will participate. At the event, people visit the booths and displays set up by each charity. They are provided with a form where they can designate the charities they want to support and the amount they want to give to each. With one check or credit card swipe they can do all of their year-end charitable giving.

Cards and envelopes are provided so that shoppers can designate gifts in the names of loved ones or friends. And a tasty lunch of soup, sandwiches, and sweets is available that day too.

“The Alternative Christmas Fair is a signature event for our church and has been since 1982,” says Jill Redman, co-chair for 2025. “We have raised more than a million dollars for charity in that time. Put the event on your calendar and try to bring a friend or neighbor. One of our goals this year is to increase participation by people outside of our congregation. As everyone knows, the need for charitable giving is now greater than ever.”
