More opportunities with Taproot Kitchen

Taproot Kitchen is a nonprofit commercial kitchen that employs individuals with intellectual disabilities and works directly with local farms to glean produce that otherwise might go to waste. We are currently looking to fill multiple AmeriCorps roles to help support Taproot's efforts to build a resilient local food system.
Tasks are flexible based on applicants’ interest but our main desired roles to be filled are:
Kitchen assistant- Work at our shared-use kitchen based out of the Nittany Valley Mall by helping current employees and other Taproot staff with food production for markets, catering, and donations. Duties may include food processing, working with volunteer groups, inputting kitchen production data, etc.
Gleaning assistant- Work with our partner farms to provide direct labor to our farms and build stronger connections with local producers. Duties may include travel to and from farms, farm labor, weighing and transporting produce, developing tracking and mapping software for produce procurement, etc.
Community garden assistant- Work with our State College community garden to help grow produce in an urban area to supply the kitchen with a variety of products to use in the kitchen. Duties may include planting, harvesting, weeding and watering, managing volunteer groups, composting kitchen waste, etc.
If applicants' availability and interest fit one or more of these positions, we are interested in hearing from you! There are a variety of position commitments available with the opportunity to fill 3-4 roles. Please share your resume and cover letter that includes your interest in the roles and positions listed above with us using the link above. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
