Founded in 1961, Global Connections is a volunteer-driven and community-based non-profit membership organization loosely affiliated with Penn State University. Based in State College—but impacting far beyond—our mission is to bring together people of diverse national origins to foster intercultural understanding, to promote awareness of our roles as members in the wider global community, and to create goodwill. We do this through individual and group activities designed to build a strong, inclusive community across cultures through service, education, advocacy, and partnerships. Examples include cultural luncheons, educational events, English teaching, group discussions, one-on-one partnerships, reading groups, and assistance to individuals in need.
