Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the premise that one caring adult (Big) can make a significant difference in the life of a child (Little). Big Brothers Big Sisters enrolls children aged 5-17 to match them in one-on-one mentoring relationships that center on doing quality-time activities together. Bigs and Littles meet once a week for at least an hour and are asked to make a 9 to 12-month commitment. We have school and community-based options for volunteering.
How a Big Becomes a Big
A lot of things have to happen before we make a match. All of our Bigs go through a thorough background check and careful interview process. We then match Bigs and Littles based on location, personalities, and preferences. Along the way, we provide full support — so that matches can grow into lasting friendships.
